In what was probably a long time coming, AT&T finally released their first iPhone app today. It’s called AT&T myWireless Mobile (yikes!) and it allows AT&T customers to manage and edit their wireless account right from their iPhone. Some of the touted features include:
- Viewing and paying your bill
- Viewing voice minutes and data usage
- Adding or removing features
Simple, yet functional, like an IBM employee from the 60’s.
One of the app reviews on iTunes comically reads:
Dropped calls, missing messages, garbled voice quality, data slowdowns, and abysmal customer ‘service’ are all reality for ATT customers. Thanks to this superbly done app we can now be reminded of how much we pay for the abuse we sustain as an ATT user. I only wish ATT put as much effort into their network as they did this app.
(emphasis mine, and included because I’ve been through AT&T customer service hell the past few weeks)
Now how hilarious would it have been if Apple rejected this app? It’d be a textbook example of biting the hand that feeds you. And speaking of, “The Hand That Feeds” happens to be the title of a great NIN song, and whadya know, Apple just rejected an update to NIN’s iPhone app due to ‘objectionable content’.
