Everyone’s favorite virtualization program just got a lot snappier. Parallels Desktop 4.0 has officially been released and its speed improvements are nothing to scoff at.
ArsTechnica has the full scoop over here.
“Parallels Desktop 4.0 now has 50 percent faster performance than the previous version of the software, according to the company. Additionally, the team has improved upon battery life when using Parallels on a notebook, giving users back about 20 percent of their typical battery life while running a virtual machine.”
If you want to run Windows on your Mac, a copy of Parallels will set you back about 80 bucks, but existing users of Parallels can upgrade for $40 up until the end of November. If you have no idea why you’d ever want to run Windows on your Mac, you can still give Parallels a test run with a 15-day free trial. And if you’re one of the lucky ones who purchased Parallels 3.0 after September 1, then you can upgrade to 4.0 free of charge.
