So long printer drivers! Well, we’re not quite there yet, but the journey has begun with Apple’s AirPrint feature which is a part of the recently released iOS 4.2 update. Some folks, though, have been discouraged that Apple’s most recent implementation of AirPrint only works on 11 select printers. One user was so frustrated he took to emailing Jobs to ask, in effect, “Yo Jobsie, what the hell is going on here?”
Q: You got me all hyped up about AirPrint. Now with iOS 4.2 released, I find out that I can only print on 11 select printers. Seriously?!
A: Lots more coming soon. It’s what it takes to make a giant leap to driverless printing, which is huge.
Indeed, driverless printing is huge and Apple’s lineup of iOS devices are making even greater strides towards becoming a seamless part of one’s entire computing experience.
