In just 3 short years, Apple came out of nowhere and revolutionized the entire notion of what a smartphone is. And though its total share of the handset market is still low (try 3%), the profits Apple rakes in from iPhone sales are anything but. Moreover, Apple’s iPhone profits are greater than the handset profits from RIM, Motorola, Nokia, HTC, and Sony Ericsson combined.
Again, Apple is destroying the competition (profit wise) with a paltry 3% marketshare. The room for growth there is incredible.
