You might not be familiar with DVD Jon, a.k.a Jon Lech Johansen, but you’ve certainly heard about some of his exploits, such as circumventing the DRM on DVD’s and on downloaded songs from iTunes (way back when iTunes songs had DRM).

In late 2006, DVD Jon joined the San Francisco based company Double Twist Ventures, and on October 6th, Johansen and co. are planning to release Choice for the Mac, a program which will presumably enable users to move and transfer files between devices irregardless of format, DRM be damned.

In anticipation of this momentous event, DVD Jon released the following promo video which spoofs Apple’s famous “1984” ad.  As pointed out by Jason Kincaid of TechCrunch, “what a difference 25 years can make.”  Whereas once Apple portrayed itself as the underdog seeking to free the masses from the shackles of big brother, it’s now portrayed by others as an evil corporation with a herd of blind followers all wearing iPod headphones and glued to whatever dictates emanate from the mouth of Steve Jobs, the overlord in-chief.

Check out the video below.  Not too shabby, if you ask us.
