Apple’s final keynote presentation at Macworld is behind us, and some tech pundits are already calling it a ‘snoozer’ and a ‘disappointment’. Wall St. also didn’t respond to favorably to Apple’s announcements, or lack thereof. But all of these critics are missing the bigger picture. The reason Apple has been so successful over the past […]

Apple recently filed a response in opposition to Psystar’s motion to amend its counterclaims, which allege misuse of copyright on the part of Apple. In short, Apple noted that ‘copyright misuse’ is only available as an affirmative defense, and cannot be used as a cause of action in a counterclaim. Apple then goes on to […]

If you’re gonna go, go strong. That appears to be the strategy of Cygnus Systems, an Arizona company who on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against Apple, Microsoft, and Google. A trifecta of sorts. The lawsuit alleges that the above-named companies all have products that implement a file preview feature, which allows users to preview the […]

Some developers are using somewhat questionable (to put it mildly) methods in order to boost sales for their programs on the iTunes app store. Paul Haddad at Tapbots noted that when he did a search for the new game ‘Rolando’, some completely unrelated apps were showing up in his search results. But why? Well, it […]

Though seemingly coming out of left field, Steve Jobs’ decision not to speak at the Macworld keynote this January makes a lot of sense for a number of reasons. First of all, Macworld expectations got out of control and put too much pressure on Apple to deliver amazing products at arbitrary times. Second, it’s the […]

Microsoft has officially denied rumors suggesting that it was set to unveil a Zune phone at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. Instead, Microsoft is set to unveil a new service called “Zune Mobile” that will comprise a series of music related mobile services that will be available to customers with Windows Mobile […]

After being booted from the App Store for “lacking utility” and for presumably being too crude, the “pull my finger” application for the iPhone and iPod Touch is once again available for download. The application, which has a total of 18 different “high quality” fart sounds (and vibrates for realism!), was initially rejected by Apple […]

Morgan Stanley analyst Kathryn Huberty cut her target for Apple's stock down to $95, five dollars less than her previous target of $100. She also lowered expected 2009 iPhone sales to 14 million, down from an original projection of 19 million. First of all, let me go off on a quick tangent here and briefly say, that most analysts are, to be blunt, clueless. Take the recent brouhaha about a $99 iPhone at Walmart for example. One day an analyst says that a $99 iPhone is inevitable. The next day another analyst says that Apple has to release a cheaper iPhone in order to boost sales. Then word gets out that a $99 iPhone isn't happening, and other analysts jump in with the benefit of hindsight and boldly declare that a $99 iPhone was never feasible in the first place. First of all, let me go off on a quick tangent here and briefly say, that most analysts are, to be blunt, clueless. Take the recent brouhaha about a $99

There’s been a lot of talk lately about whether or not 99 cent apps are ruining the app store, but more than the price, it’s the abundance of crapware that can often make browsing the app store a somewhat jumbled experience. While there are certainly an impressive number of great iPhone applications that do amazing […]

After a lot hype, it now seems that the iPhone is, in fact, coming to Walmart around December 28. While customers won’t be able to pick one up for 99 bucks, Apple’s presence in Walmart will be a huge move for Apple in increasing its distribution. But some are claiming that an Apple/Walmart mix might […]

New data from Gartner indicates that the successful launch of the iPhone 3G was enough to push iPhone market share over that of the entire range of Windows Mobile devices. Nokia, meanwhile, maintained its number 1 spot with 42.4% in market share. iPhone market share jumped up to 12.9% during the third quarter of 2008, […]

BoyGeniusReport is reporting that Apple is planning to offer a 4GB iPhone at Walmart for the low low price of $99. Though nothing has officially been confirmed, previous reports have indicated that the iPhone would be available at select Walmart stores (around 2500 in total) by the end of December. If true, this move could […]
