Edible Apple

As expected, Apple today released a new iPhone app which allows users to browse through products and user reviews, find nearby Apple stores, stay up to date with in-store events, and make personal shopping, genius bar, or One to One appointments.

And seeing as how iPhone pre-orders started earlier today, customers can also use the app to reserve the next-gen iPhone by simply entering in their AT&T account information. Users can have the iPhone 4 either shipped directly to them free of charge, or have it reserved for pick-up at a local Apple Store.

While it was initially assumed that the app would be called Concierge, Apple went with a much more basic name – Apple Store.

In a press release announcing the new app, Apple writes:

The new Apple Store app makes it easy for US customers with an iPhone or iPod touch to find an Apple retail store near them and make reservations for amazing retail services including free tech support and advice at the Genius Bar, hands-on workshops, Personal Shopping appointments and personal training sessions through Apple’s popular One to One program. Customers can also shop the full selection of more than 1,000 products and accessories available from the Apple Online Store, get the latest Apple product news, read customer reviews and get answers to their product questions.

The app is available as a free download on iTunes, but is only available for US customers at this time. As an aside, does anyone else think the app icon is ugly? It seems to like the usual shine we’ve come to expect from Apple app icons. In any event, below are some screenshots of the app.
