Apple recently released iPhone OS 4.0 Beta 3, noted as build 10M224, and it didn’t take long for developers to find some interesting goodies. Reportedly more stable and smoother than previous builds, the latest beta includes the ability to lock the iPhone display in either portrait or landscape mode – a long desired feature for frustrated users who use their iPhone while lying down in bed. The iPad, of course, has a dedicated button for locking and unlocking the orientation of the display.
Some other new features include a simplified ways to close up apps when you’re multitasking and the addition of iPod controls when swiping to the left from the multitasking tray.
