Apple this weekend aired a new iPhone commercial touting the fact that its iconic smartphone is now available, for the first time, on two networks in the US. Accompanied by Johann Strauss’ Blue Danube Waltz, the ad shows two separate iPhones operating side by side as each one sifts through various apps, with the two devices, at one point, engaging in a good ole’ fashioned FaceTime video chat.
Since launching in 2007, the iPhone has been tied exclusively to AT&T here in the US. Starting on February 10, however, the iPhone will for the first time work on on Verizon’s CDMA network and will be available to a healthy 90 million+ subscribers. That said, Verizon will reportedly divert a good amount of marketing dollars away from its Android efforts as it prepares a heavy advertising campaign to promote the iPhone 4.
