Apple has increasingly shown an interest in reaching out to Jailbreak developers and, gasp!, hiring them. Most recently, Apple this past Summer hired Peter Hajas, the developer of MobileNotifier that was only available via Cydia. Apple certainly has a lot of smart people working under its employ, but some of the apps/tweaks available for jailbroken phones shows that it’s sometimes wise to think outside the box.
Case in point, this nice iOS tweak from jailbreak developer chpwn. This particular tweak is called Zephyr and comes with two new multitasking gestures. The first, which truthfully we’re surprised Apple hasn’t implemented yet, enables users to call up the multitasking pane by swiping upwards from the bottom of the screen. This is certainly preferable to the double-tap on the home button which can get particularly frustrating on older devices.
Second, and borrowing a gesture from the iPad, Zephyr enables users to switch between apps simply by swiping from the right of the screen leftwards. Again, this is a cool gesture already implemented in iOS 5 on the iPad so perhaps Apple will get around to implementing it in the iPhone soon.
