Apparently thieves have exquisite taste, or at the very least a grasp on the resale value of varying smartphones. That’s the lesson we can extract from a recent story here thieves accosted three Columbia students in upper Manhattan whereupon they demanded the duo hand over their iPhones.
After the first victim handed over his iPhone, the second revealed that he only had a Droid. And apparently, that just wasn’t appealing enough for the thieves as they opted to take cash and leave the Droid behind. As for the third, she didn’t have an iPhone but was thrown up against a fence and searched as the thieves didn’t believe her.
The frightening encounters may be the talk of the campus, but students said they were caught somewhere between amusement and alarm.
“It’s insulting they don’t want my BlackBerry,” said a female student.
“I don’t like mine,” said another student. “I’m waiting to get an iPhone myself.”
