Steve Jobs has posthumously won a Grammy. Well, sort of. The Recording Academy announced yesterday that the Apple co-founder will be honored with the organization’s Special Merit Award which honors substantial non-performance contributions to the recorded music industry. And given how Apple under the steady hand of Jobs revolutionized the entire music industry with the iPod and iTunes, he’s certainly a worthy candidate.
A ceremony commemorating Jobs and other honorees – which includes Lifetime Achievement Award winners such as Antonio Carlos Jobim and George Jones – will be held on February 11 while the Grammy Awards themselves will air on CBS a day later.
