It’s a busy week for Apple. The rolling out of iOS 5, iCloud, and of course the iPhone 4S this Friday.

Apple got things started today with iOS 5 and iCloud, and also managed to release the Find My Friends app Eddy cue first debuted last week at Apple’s iPhone media event.

The app is lightweight, checking in at only 10.4MB. Naturally it requires iOS 5 and an iCloud account which users can of course create for free.

As a quick refresher, Find My Friends enables users to share their location with other iOS owners that a user has deemed to be trustworthy. This can come in handy in any number of situations, such as sharing one’s location to a friend you’re trying to meet at a concert. What’s more, users can invite friends to access their location data for limited time periods if they so choose.

As we described previously, this might come in handy if you’re driving a few hours to see some friends. With the new app, you can invite them to share your location so that they can help direct you along the way should you get lost.

The features as listed by Apple include:

– Easily locate friends and family

– Temporary sharing option

– Simple privacy controls

– Parental restrictions
