After being on pre-order for less than 24 hours, the iPhone 4S is already on its way to being the most successful iPhone launch ever.
AT&T announced yesterday that demand for Apple’s newest smartphone has been overwhelming, with the company having already processed over 200,000 preorders in the first 12 hours alone.
AT&T has seen extraordinary demand for iPhone 4S with more than 200,000 preorders in the first 12 hours alone, the most successful iPhone launch we’ve ever had. It’s obvious customers like AT&T’s 4G network, which is the only one that lets their iPhone download twice as fast and talk and surf simultaneously.
With the iPhone 4S simulatenously launching on 3 US networks next Friday, it’s on track to break all previous iPhone launch day records. While some pundits and those inclined to complain were lamenting the lack of a new form factor, Apple completely re-worked the innards of the device, supplying it with a speedy dual core A5 processor, a redesigned and intelligent antenna system, a completely overhauled camera system with an 8 megapixel lens, and of course, Siri – Apple’s take on voice recognition.
By way of comparison, the cumulative number of iPhone 4 pre-orders last year across all carriers came in at 600,000 units. Again, AT&T by itself was already 1/3 of the way there after just 12 hours.
Meanwhile, Verizon and Sprint haven’t yet released any pre-order sales figures, but a quick perusal of Sprint’s website reveals that the latest iPhone carrier has already sold out all of its iPhone 4S 16GB supply.
Lastly, folks who were quick to order the iPhone 4S from Apple’s website will have their device delivered by October 14th. But with swelling demand, Apple’s website now says pre-orders placed today will ship anywhere from 1-2 weeks.
