Buckle-up, folks. Today promises to be insanely busy and chock full of interesting announcements. With Apple’s media event now less than an hour away, rumors are still trickling in.

There’s been a lot of talk about what kind of iPhones Apple might release and how big the screens will be, but there hasn’t been much talk about pricing. To that effect, 9to5Mac has heard rumblings that Apple’s pricing structure this holiday shopping season will be its most aggressive to date.

Rumor has it that the iPhone 3GS will be available for free with contract, alongside an 8GB iPhone 4 for $49. The iPhone 4S, meanwhile, will come in three different capacities at varying pricepoints. A 16GB model will retail for $100 while a 32 and 64GB model will retail for $199 and $299 respectively.

Further, the WSJ reported earlier this morning that there will be no LTE or 4G WiMax capable iPhone released this refresh cycle.

According to people familiar with the company’s plans, the hotly anticipated device won’t operate on long-term evolution or WiMAX fourth-generation networks. Those wireless networks promise speedier downloading to mobile devices of episodes of television programs, as well as cute baby photos.

The people said the device will work on 3G networks, which are broadly in use today and are the standard for the current iPhone 4. AT&T says its HSPA+ network has 4G-like speeds.

And one final rumor before liveblogs get things started in a few, TheNextWeb writes that the iPhone 4S will come with “more definitive GPS” features on account of the A5 dual core processor. What this means remains open to interpretation but Apple is bound to have some surprises for us later today.
