Following reports that iPhone 5 pre-orders are set to go live on September 30th followed by an October 7th launch, we stumbled across the following photo purporting to show Wintek workers cleaning what may very well be the touchscreen component of the iPhone 5.
MIC Gadget found the photo via one of China’s microblogging services and while there’s no way to verify exactly what’s going on here, it’s certainly worth passing along. Assuming that these are iPhone 5 parts, note that the screen does look larger and that the home button also appears to be more of an oval shape – which of course jibes with previously leaked iPhone 5 case schematics.
As for Wintek, a number of previous reports have relayed that Apple tapped Wintek to provide touchpanels for the white iPhone 5. The devices above are decidedly not white, so as usual, take this all with a grain of salt.
Earlier this week we reported that Apple had upped their estimate for iPhone 5 production from 20 million units in the second half of 2011 to 25 million.
