It’s that time of year, folks. iPhone rumors are sprouting up daily, with the most recent incarnation being an investor note from Sternee Agee analyst Shaw Wu who writes that the iPhone 5 update will be “bigger than expected.” Wu notes that Apple’s next-gen iPhone will sport a larger display, a dual core processor, and a thinner bezel. Aside from the bigger display, Wu writes, the phone will sport a similar form factor to the iPhone 4.
AppleInsider writes:
While Wu expects the new iPhone to have a bigger screen and thinner profile, checks within the supply chain have said that the fifth-generation iPhone is not expected to have 4G-LTE high-speed wireless data connectivity. The new technology still has issues with battery life and network coverage, problems that Wu believes Apple will fix at some point in the future.
It’s hard to argue with what Wu lays out here since we’ve heard it all before, but note that Wu has an extremely spotty track record with respect to Apple rumors. Also, everytime we hear from Wu, it seems that he’s working at a completely new company. We’ll have to double check, but Sternee Agee might be the third firm he’s been with in as many years. Odd.
As for the larger screen iPhone, note that iPhone 5 case moldings have recently surfaced suggesting that Apple’s next-gen iPhone will be longer, thinner, and wider.
