With WWDC just days away now, Apple appears to be putting the finishing touches on OS X 10.7 Lion. Citing “trusted sources”, Erica Sadun writes that Apple recently began internal testing on the company’s next major OS release, indicating that a real world release isn’t too far off.
Sadun speculates that Apple may try and officially take the wraps off of Lion at its June 6 Keynote with an “available today” note to appear on its online store, but this doesn’t seem likely given Apple’s propensity to release one final Golden Master-based developer release in the weeks following WWDC. Besides, releasing a major OS X update while the thousands of developers and engineers who helped steer Lion to its current state are preoccupied with WWDC happenings doesn’t seem too shrewd or altogether likely.
