After nearly a year long delay attributed to a number of factors, Apple today officially announced that the white iPhone 4 will be available starting tomorrow from Apple’s online store and an assortment of retail stores as well.
“The white iPhone 4 has finally arrived and it’s beautiful,” Phil Schiller said in a press release. “We appreciate everyone who has waited patiently while we’ve worked to get every detail right.”
Apple notes that the white iPhone 4 will be available in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Macau, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, UK and the US.
Other countries will be getting the mythical white iPhone 4 later on.
With the iPhone 5 now scheduled for a September launch at the earliest, some are claiming that the arrival of the white iPhone 4 should help give Apple a boost in sales during the interim months. We’re not so sure how alluring the white iPhone 4 is, but we do suppose a new color iPhone is better than no new iPhone at all.
As for why the white iPhone 4 was delayed in the first place, well, you might as well take your pick from a host of rumors. Some believed the device experienced color matching issues while others relayed that the white iPhone was letting too much paint in and causing photos to become washed out. More recently, reports indicated that the white paint on the iPhone was prone to peeling in the heat.
Either way, those troubles are now behind us and we can finally rejoice in the presence of the long-awaited white iPhone 4.
