For $1.99, you can download 8mm Vintage Camera, a new app for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and 4th gen iPod Touch. While there are an array of photo apps that apply nostalgic effects, this app is just video baby. The app description reads:

8mm Vintage Camera brings your iPhone and iPod Touch back in time to capture the beauty and magic of old school vintage movies. By mixing and matching films and lenses, you can recreate the atmosphere of those bygone eras with 25 timeless retro looks. Dust & scratches, retro colors, flickering, light leaks, frame jitters – all can be instantly added with the swapping of a finger.

The app comes with 5 built-in lenses: Clear, Flickering Frame, Spotlight, Light Leak and Color Fringing. The 5 types of bundled films include grainy, discolored, dusted and aged films from different eras – 1920, 70s, Sakura, XPro, Siena. Users can even add randomly placed up and down displacement of frames to mimic real 8mm projectors. Notably, the effects are seen and applied in real time through the viewer. As you might expect, recorded video can be added to the camera roll, uploaded to YouTube, or sent out as part of an email.
