Apple last week launched iAd Producer, a new software tool which enables developers and designers to create rich, beautiful and interactive content for iAds. iAd Producer “automatically manages the HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript behind your iAd” while also providing advanced JavaScript editing and debugging tools.
iAd producer is available to iOS developer program members and should help speed up an iAd creation process which has been criticized by a notable few as being too long and under too much control from Apple. Back in October, for example, Adidas dropped their $10 million iAd campaign because “Steve jobs was being too much of a control freak” and, more importantly, Apple rejected three of Adidas’ iAd concepts. Maybe, just maybe, iAd Producer will give designers the tools they need to deliver rich and immersive ads that meet Apple’s high standards.
MacStories chimes in:
The application features a user interface design similar to the latest iPhoto ’11 with iOS-inspired textures and toolbar buttons, animations and popover menus. It really looks like a tool which aims at simplifying the iAd creation workflow and, at the same time, empowering designers to come up with beautiful advertising campaigns for iPhone and iPad. iAd Producer also allows you to preview an iAd in Safari 5 and the iOS Simulator, send it to iAd’s test servers or export it to iDisk.
