You might call it a stretch, but Engadget recently received the photo on the right (from a Target PDA) purporting to show the arrival of a mysterious product to Target beginning on October 3rd.
The [shot] “seemingly show that the item numbers match the iPad prices exactly, and that it will be located in the Digital Audio section — that’s apparently also how e-readers like the Kindle are classified, in addition to iPods. Smoking gun? Not exactly, but it’s certainly enough to get us to keep our eye on this one.”
The iPad is currently only available from Apple and from Best Buy, but it’d make sense for Apple to wide availability of the already popular iPad ahead of the holiday shopping season – especially as iPad competitors start to sprout up left and right.
And speaking of the iPad increasing its retail footprint, Walmart executive Gary Severson noted back in May that the retail giant anticipates having the iPad before the end of 2010.
