It’s become somewhat of a fad to destroy iPhones, videotape the destruction, and post the ensuing footage up on YouTube. While that’s all well and good, there’s only so many times we can watch an iPhone in a blender, or look at bored groups of teenagers smash an iPhone to smitherines using a hammer or a baseball bat.
Which, of course, makes the following video that much more sweet. What happens when you place an old iPhone under a 65-inch Fresnel lens? Pure awesomeness.
The guys behind the video call their contraption a “Death Ray”, and we can’t disagree. Also impressive is that the iPhone continues to play music until it’s entirely obliterated. Nothing like listening to Kids by MGMT while watching the original iPhone catch a few rays.
