Well that was quick. iOS 4 is barely hot off the press and Pandora has already issued an update to its popular music streaming app with support for multitasking.
Pandora keeps playing after you press press the home button. You can go surf the web or use Facebook and the music won’t stop. (Available only on multitasking capable devices with iOS 4.)
Multitasking functionality is limited to the iPhone 3GS, the upcoming iPhone 4, and the third-generation iPod Touch.
Apple and Pandora have had an especially close relationship ever since the app store debuted back in July 2008. During a recent developer/promo video that made the rounds during Apple’s recent WWDC, Pandora’s Tim Conrad had this to say about the power of the iPhone platform.
We’ve been trying for about 18 months before the app store had launched to figure out Pandora and mobile. We tried it on all different kind of phones, and we just had never really got the formula right. The morning we turned it on and we started watching the activations come in, we had more people listening on the iPhone by noon than we had accumulated in the previous years.
