Digitimes reports that monthly shipments of the iPad are poised to hit 1.2 million units in July, up from 700,000 units per month when the device was first released. More impressively, Digitimes Research analyst Kuo Ming-Chi anticipates that monthly shipments may hit 2.5 million units by the end of 2010.
With iPad production on the upswing, the report notes that Apple has pegged Samsung to join LG Display to help manufacture the 9.7-inch panel displays for the device.
Earlier this week, analyst Katy Huberty upped her 2010 iPad sales estimate by over 50% to 10 million units. If Apple does, in fact, reach 2.5 million units a month, then even Huberty’s bull case scenario will look like a gross underestimation.
