Some more notes of interest from today’s WWDC Keynote.

Acknowledging that the iPhone OS now runs on devices that aren’t iPhones, Apple renamed its mobile operating system iOS 4. Interestingly, a rumor from last week suggested that a revamped Apple TV will sport what is now called the iOS.

The iOS4 update will be available on June 21, and in a welcome change, will for the first time be available as a free upgrade for iPod Touch owners. Previously, iPod Touch owners had to pay up to $10 for each major OS upgrade. The upgrade will also be available for iPhone 3G and 3GS owners, but as expected, not all of the OS’s new features will run on this device. And if you happen to still be carrying around the original iPhone, well, then, you’re outta luck.
