While people continue to debate the merits of AT&T’s new data capped plans, current iPhone owners with an insatiable appetite for bandwidth will still be able to keep their $30/month unlimited plan if they so choose.
Tethering, however, will only be available to iPhone owners who sign up for AT&T’s $25 Data Pro plan which comes with a 2GB cap (each additional GB of data costs $10). In other words, the only way for iPhone owners to take advantage of tethering is if they agree to a 2GB cap on data and say goodbye to their unlimited plan. So with AT&T’s $20 tethering fee, that’s $45 monthly out of your pocket for the ability to tether with a 2GB cap.
