Apple today issued a press release announcing that it has now sold over two million iPads in less than two months. The iPad first went on sale here in the US on April 3, and subsequently hit stores in a select number of international countries this past weekend.
“Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do,” said Steve Jobs in the press release. “We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.”
The press release also notes that developers have thus far created over 5,000 apps specifically tailored for the iPad.
Previously, Apple announced that it hit the 1-million iPads sold mark just 28 days after its initial release. By way of comparison, it took the iPhone 74 days to hit 1 million units sold.
