The year was 1989. Ronald Regan was President, Isiah Thomas and the Detroit Pistons were embarking on the first of their two-year NBA Championship run, and a young Keanu Reeves taught us all how to laugh in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.
But computing back in the late 80’s was anything but universally accessible. To wit, check out this 1989 Newspaper ad showcasing the Tandy 5000 MC Professional System.
Checking in at just under $8,500, the Tandy 5000 MC Pro System came with a speedy 20 Mhz Intel 386 processor and a generous 2 MB of RAM. What a beast!
And oh yes, the Monitor and Mouse aren’t included. Curiously, though, the keyboard is.
Oh, and one more thing.. San Dimas High School Football rules!

Don’t mean to be picky but you misspelled ‘Reagan’, and he was only president for the first 19.5 days of 1989.
