HP stepped up to the plate a few weeks ago when it acquired Palm for a cool $1.2 billion. The deal not only breathed new life into Palm’s WebOS, but gave HP an actual mobile OS worth talking about.
In light of those developments, HP reportedly axed the HP Slate running Windows 7 project that Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer so proudly boasted about earlier this year at CES. And now comes word via the Examiner that HP is already hard at work on a new WebOS-based tabled codenamed the HP Hurricane with a tentative release date pegged for the third quarter of 2010.
HP, more often than not, comes out with more robust and intriguing hardware than other PC vendors, so it’ll be interesting to see what HP’s take on a tablet device will be not that they’re in full control of the entire widget.
