It’s funny how ancient software is seemingly becomes uber-cool when you see it rise from the dead and reappear on a modern day device. Case in point – Russel Brown, a Senior Creative Director at Adobe, recently got together with Ansca Mobile to develop a limited iPhone version of Adobe Photoshop 1.0.7. Everything you loved, and most likely forgot, about the early days of Photoshop is here. Well not really – the app appears to be limited to basic photo adjustments, though in a nice nostalgic twist, the app starts up with the original Mac startup sound. And for some historical context, the original version of Adobe Photoshop 1.0.7 was released on February 19, 1990. Back then, I was busy playing PlayMaker football by Broderbund.. remember those guys?!
But before you go ahead and start searching for the app on iTunes, I should tell you that it’s not available. Rather, the app was developed merely as an exercise to tout the development framework that made it all possible, Corona. Still, well worth checking out.
In the interest of completeness, we should point out that there is an official Photoshop for the iPhone available for download over here.
