Engadget copped some video of the new Windows Phone 7 series UI in action. While it’s obviously a step up from Windows Mobile 6.5, the on-screen interface seems a bit clunky, confusing, and downright unresponsive at times.

Ok, so Microsoft updated the feature list and the UI. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to work that well. Watch closely and notice how many times he is trying to scroll and it selects an item instead. Also notice how the UI transitions, while smooth and pretty, they slow down the user experience significantly. And if that wasn’t enough, these extremely slow transitions are used everywhere, all the time. Yuck. Even worse, this demo shows clearly why having a user configurable background is not always a good idea. Pretty? Yes. Usable? Absolutely not.
