Alan Kay, the famed computer scientist who was an instrumental figure at Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) and who would later work at Apple’s now defunct Advanced Technology Group, has an interesting quote about the iPhone that’s especially revealing in light of the recently unveiled Apple iPad.
In an interview last year, Kay stated:
When the Mac first came out, Newsweek asked me what I [thought] of it. I said: Well, it’s the first personal computer worth criticizing. So at the end of the presentation, Steve came up to me and said: Is the iPhone worth criticizing? And I said: Make the screen five inches by eight inches, and you’ll rule the world.”
Holla back.
