Now this is certainly interesting – Woz advertising for a sports car?! We’re not sure when this commercial was shot, but the Datsun 280ZX was sold from 1979-1983 so we can at least narrow it down to the early 80’s. Nissan eventually purchased the Datsun brand in 1986, leaving Woz without transport until the Segway came along years later.
Lastly, did anyone else notice the strange ending? “You sell the Apples, I’ll sell the Z’s.” If that’s the case, why put Woz in the commercial first place? Ah, the 80’s. A truly magical time.

Nissan didn’t “purchase” the Datsun brand, they always owned it. They simply changed the name under which their vehicles were marketed in much of the world. (Legend has it that this was done out of frustration when Nissan was denied a loan because the lender didn’t realize they made Datsuns.)
