Developed by Epic Games, the ‘Unreal Engine’ is a 3D gaming engine used in many popular video games such as Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, Gears of War, BioShock 2, and Mass Effect. And below, check out the Unreal Engine running on 3rd gen iPod Touch. Notably, the engine requires OpenGL ES 2.0, so it can only run on the latest iPod Touch model and the iPhone 3GS.
Epic isn’t planning to enter the iPhone game market any time soon, but licensing the engine out to third party developers is definitely on their agenda – though there’s no definite time frame as to when that might actually happen. In the meantime, the video below showcases a stunning look at where gaming on the iPhone platform is headed.
