Digitimes reports that recent iPhone sales have been much higher than expected, with sales of the iPhone 3GS “expected to reach 10 million in the fourth quarter of 2009.” If the 10 million figure turns out to be accurate, Apple’s earnings will be through the roof. By way of comparison, during the fourth quarter of 2009, Apple sold 6.9 million iPhones. In Q4 of 2008, it sold 1.19 million iPhones.
