WordPress – you know, that popular blog publishing software – announced yesterday the availability of WordPress 2 for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The new software includes a large smattering of new features, such as a new user interface which enables faster switching between comments, posts, and pages, keychain storage for passwords, and the ability to save and restore in-progress posts in the event of lost network connectivity.
WordPress writes on the impetus behind the new app:
Our efforts were focused on creating a better user experience — the beginnings of a user interface overhaul that we’ll continue with the next version, and eliminating the bugs and incompatibilities with some self-hosted WordPress setups that was the source of the majority of the support requests we see in the forum.
