Hot on the heels of reports that Snow Leopard sales have been through the roof comes news that Microsoft will lower the price for Windows 7 to $29 for qualifying students – meaning that you must have a valid .edu e-mail address, and can prove that you’re enrolled in “current coursework.” The offer to students includes a downloaded edition of Windows 7 Home Premium, and those interested in obtaining an actual disc can do so for an additional $13. The promotion is set to last until January 3, 2010.
Non-students interested in Windows 7, on the other hand, won’t be as fortunate, with pricing for the Home Premium edition of Windows checking in at $199, the Professional edition checking in at $299, and the Ultimate edition of Windows 7 checking in at a whopping $319.
You can check out the differences between the various editions over here.
