DirecTV is planning to launch an iPhone application that will allow customers signed up for their NFL package to watch NFL games on their iPhone via both 3G and Wi-Fi.
The service is gonna cost you, though. Barron’s notes that “to use the service, you’ll need to pay for both the satellite TV provider’s $280 Sunday Ticket subscription, and a $100 add-on Superfan upgrade. The service is subject to local blackout rules.”
The Superfan upgrade also comes with a few other non-mobile perks such as allowing subscribers to watch up to 8 games at once on a single screen, in addition to a channel that condenses games down to 30 minutes.
DirecTV has said that the iPhone app will be available on iTunes by September.
