Last week we reported that the upcoming Palm Pre can sync with iTunes, a move which we labled as “terribly shortsighted” on the part of Palm.  After all, Apple can presumably issue an iTunes software update which would effectively prevent iTunes from recognizing the Pre, leaving Palm customers confused and annoyed in the process.

But if Apple has any plans to squash the Pre’s ability to sync with iTunes, it apparently won’t be implementing them this week.  Apple’s iTunes 8.2 update, which was released earlier this week, still syncs seamlessly with the Palm Pre, according to a report from Gizmodo.

I’m not a psychic, but I’d bet good money that Steve Jobs, who was reportedly pissed at Jon Rubenstein for taking the lead position on the Palm Pre team, won’t let this stand for long.
