Forget about Apple suing Palm over its use of mult-touch on the Palm Pre, Apple now finds itself the defendant in a lawsuit brought by Taiwanese chip design company Elan Microelectronics over alleged infringement related to touchscreen patents.
Elan is angling for an injunction against Apple that would prevent it from selling iPhone’s, iPod’s, and MacBooks until things get sorted out. Multi-touch, of course, is the technology that allows users to use two more fingers as “gestures” in order to manipulate something on the screen, such as using 2 fingers to zoom in or out of a webpage while on the iPhone for example.
The New York Times has more on the story over here.
