“I Tried to Ford the River, and my Oxen Died” – a classic line from everyone’s favorite 1980’s edutainment video game, Oregon Trail.

Soon, iPhone and iPod Touch users will be able to relive the excitement of living life on the trail as a pioneer during the 1800’s, all from the comfort of their 21st century homes.  According to the LA Times, Oregon Trail is currently in development over at Gameloft, and while there is still no hard-release date for the title, it’s exciting to see some of more nostalgic games from the 80’s are finding their way over to the iPhone.

IGN was able to score a few screenshots of the game, which will undoubtedly make a splash in the iTunes App Store when it’s finally released.

I’d say it’s a graphical upgrade from the 1985 version of the game.. what do you think?
