Users who visited Apple’s website today were greeted with a message that the iTunes app store has had over 15,000 apps and over 500 million downloads.
Incredible. Meanwhile, a competing App Store from BlackBerry has yet to launch, and Android’s app marketplace is trudging along in obscurity.
When Apple last revealed download figures about a month and a half ago, it said there had been over 300 million downloads from the app store, and it took Apple around 5 months to reach that point. It only took Apple 1.5 months to nearly double that figure.

Doesn’t surprise me at all. Apple claimed that the market in 2009 would be worth at least a Billion. Here’s shooting for two!
