Microsoft, in its latest attempt to improve its tarnished image, has started a clothing line featuring some nifty retro designs. In doing so, Microsoft has again tapped the services of advertising juggernaut Crispin Porter & Bogusky, the firm that produced those funny (at least in my opinion) Seinfeld and Bill Gates ads, not to mention those atrocious “I’m a PC” ads.
According to AdvertisingAge:
The Redmond, Wash.-based software giant once again called upon a celebrity spokesperson to help it gain some street cred, this time, in the form of rapper Common. He contributed designs to the collection, reminiscent of the 80s, a time when he and Microsoft both came of age.
Call me skeptical, but retro t-shirts with Geek appeal isn’t going to be all that successful in helping Microsoft counter the notion that it’s a boring and nerdy company, no matter how well they sell. In any event, the t-shirts are going to hit select stores starting on December 15th.
Check out the “Softwear” below.
